The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.

@Mik we bought our first microwave oven in 1982. It was a Panasonic, and I got it as a Christmas gift for Mrs. George. I paid about $700 - in 1982.

Since microwaves were relatively new at that time there we all kinds of hacks (though not called that at the time) to make microwave cooking more like regular oven and stovetop cooking.

One of them was to simply add Liquid Smoke to whatever you were cooking to approximate the flavor of your food. "Approximate" is a loose concept here. Yeah, it moved it closer to stovetop cooking, but closer ≠ close.

Another was to use a "browning tray" or "browning dish." You would heat the hell out of this thing before adding your food, and then cook away.

          Perhaps they've gotten better.

          Nah...

Not really. When I first bought one around 85 I tried cooking a lot of stuff with very unpleasant results. Great for vegetables and heating things up but that’s about the end of it. Popcorn I guess. Oatmeal.

Here you are TNCR, cleanse your visual palate. I couldn’t pass this up yesterday at HEB. Seasoned with Kinder’s onion butter rub.

I might normally cook something special tomorrow for the holiday, but there’s nowhere to go from here.
