If true, and I have little doubt it is true, it proves that Prigozhin was quite right in assessing the incompetence of the Russian MoD. Their deployment to Rostov alone would have forced Putin to blink and offer the Wagner leader an open door.
Possible that the Chechens were the only troops reliable and willing to engage Wagner. The Russian public would have never tolerated Chechen troops killing Russians in support of the president.
