I bought Mary Trump’s book

Given her PhD in clinical psychology I was looking forward to that perspective.
In the first Chapter alone she establishes that this is in fact very personal for her. Randomly I will pick one assertion that she says if he is re-elected it will be the end of American Democracy. Also she asserts he has been institutionalized his whole life and suffers from nearly all the DSM personality disorders at a severe enough level not to be able to function in the real world.
So far much blame is placed on her grandfather. I am strapped in for the ride of how much she hates her family and her scarred life of familial dysfunction as I hope to get a couple of real PhD insights.
We will see, it’s early in the book yet.

Follow the money.
Somehow, she expected the D to fork over lots of $$$, because he has lots of $$$. That's my guess, as I try to improve my ability to know what people are thinking.
I did see on the nightly news last week, that she hardly ever saw him over the years. The last time was right after the 2016 election.Worst thing is, she likely will not vote for him.

I think Trump tries to tamp down any negative publicity, especially during the campaign.
As for his sister, many psychologists have more mental problems than the people they treat.

The most interesting question is why Trump tried to stop its publication. See if you get any insight on that question.

As would any candidate. See ap's fact check on Obama, deeming him worse than Trump re the press.
I have long said many psychologists go into the field looking to fix themselves. If they weren't imbalanced going in they were by the time they graduated. Introspection can be a good thing. It can also be self-flagellation.

What amazes me is that people don't see that trying to get a book banned just gives it a shit-ton of free publicity, or more accurately a shit-ton of publicity paid for by its critics.

I don’t think anyone would want a disgruntled extended family member to write the narrative on the Trump Family.
She is so far from an historian and wasn’t even there as a first person account. So it’s an unauthorized biography by an author who’s father died of alcoholism when she was 15 and that branch didn’t get the money and she is a liberal.
So you want just the facts, good luck. You want a book from this perspective on your family history??

Not wanting something published, and trying to prevent it from being published and hence paying for its publicity are two different things.
He's made the same mistake twice. Like I said, 1D chess.
This has got nothing to do with the merits of the book.
Obviously, 'Donald Trump' and 'maintaining a dignified silence' is like chalk and whatever the complete opposite of chalk is.

It would be interesting to get her and @Larry in the same room. If we believe both of them, the US is doomed no matter what we do and who we elect. LOL

Whatever happens, it's certainly not the end of American demagoguery.

That was really my point. It is just another display of his psychological fragility. He is by far and away the weakest man ever in that office or near it.
If you read Mary’s book you would find a very large number of leaders with absent father combined with frail or earth mother. The problem with her thesis is no uniqueness.
Also her masters is in English where her thesis was on a William Faulkner dysfunctional family novel.
Her dad died, she blames on her grandfather and make Donald complicit. Combine with her loss of the family trust, her progressive ideas, her learnings on Attachment theory And what do you have:
A poorly written Jonathan Franzen novel.

Dude, all you gotta do is put it down.
And change the channel off of CNN.
Your stress level will decrease remarkably.
I’m not stressed. Fascinated actually. She combines a lot of really good family analysis with her distaste to produce her narrative. She is damaged and I feel bad for her, but we are all damaged. She lives in the past. Sam Harris would have a field day. I’m learning a lot about human nature.

I'm in the process of writing an expose of my wicked uncle Hamish McPhibes as we speak. The stories I could tell, if only I could be bothered.

Let's see..
Mary Trumps father was Fred Trump, Donald Trumps brother. The one who was an alcoholic and drank himself to death. The one that Donald Trump looked up to so much that seeing his brother killing himself with alcohol upset Donald so much that he swore to never drink a drop. Donald and Fred's father, in his will, divided his estate between his children. But Fred died before his father, and instead of waiting until he died to give Fred's children (which included Mary) their fathers share, Trump Sr. Set up a foundation that paid for all of Fred's children's medical bills - which were many due to Mary's sister in law giving birth to a child with serious lifelong medical issues.
A little about Mary.... she was once married to a woman. She voted for Hillary Clinton, and is a rabid Left winger. So.... a girl grows up with an alcoholic father who pissed his life away, a truly dysfunctional family unit because of his addiction, the whole family knowing that when grandpa died they'd be rich, but daddy died before grandpa, and sister in law had a sick child that grandpa wanted to see taken care of so Mary watched as grandpa put her daddy's future inheritance into a foundation set up to pay all of Fred's family's medical bills. Mary would now only get the 200,000 one time payment grandpa left to each of his grandchildren....
So she did the only thing a leftwing lesbian Hillary supporting money grubbing bitch from a dysfunctional family that had spent her whole life waiting for grandpa to die so they'd all be rich could do... sue the aunt's and uncles. She lost the suit, didn't get what she wanted, so she wants revenge.
The Hillary supporting leftwing lesbian from a dysfunctional family with an alcoholic father who's father drank himself to death which cheated her out of becoming rich when grandpa died..... wrote a book.... and we are supposed to take her seriously and talk about why Donald Trump is the bad guy.......
