I would think that there is an option for that. IOW: "If you do anything to broadcast, we stop paying you." And, he showed us he's not stopping.
Or just that he really, really wants to keep the money?
If my first comment is true, he doesn't care. He's been broadcasting from his house for years, from what I understand.

It's in Carlson's interest for his viewers to think there's a big conspiracy to silence him.

I wouldn’t think his contract includes a buyout clause.
