“Cry havoc and let slip the DOGE of war!”

Those who cheered as J-6 American prisoners were locked in solitary for 18 months without trial, now suddenly fight tooth and nail for foreign terrorists’ "due process". — Buck Sexton

Sounds like a good idea to me. Anything that can move the media away from a clickbait mentality has to be good.

Fully agree. I'm no Murdoch fan but this could really help.

Interesting idea - but I don't see how it works in terms of dollars and cents.

A shared article already gets revenue from increased traffic. What value do you apportion to a shared news article? What's the distinction between a news article vs. a blog? What about a really viral tirade, should the writer get compensated for that?

Entirely depends on the platform. If you're talking Instagram, for example, no they absolutely do not. Instagram provides no increased traffic whatsoever. (Although retailers do see a benefit due to the Marketplace.)

Other platforms, it entirely depends on the amount being shared. I'm sure you've noticed yourself that you don't need to read an article on social media to comment on it. The view/visit ratio is far from 1:1, and much of the time the traffic from social is nominal compared to other sources.

Yep, no idea. All good questions.

            Please love yourself.
