A little lubricant causes less friction.

He always understood that about Un.

You gotta wonder...did/does he ask his staff and advisors before doing this kind of stuff?

Yeah, I get the "lubricant" thing, but the perception on this side of the Pacific is not quite as nuanced.

I don't think he ever asked his advisors about any of his tweets.

Personally I doubt it that he understands anything about Un or that his tweet was anything other than yet another act to attract unwarranted attention.

                  Then you don't know Trump.

It was pretty classic in his dealings with the NK's.

No, I don’t know Trump nor do I care know Trump.

Nothing classic about his dealings with the NKs. They were back at their brand of usual mischief before he embarked on AF One to return home. Trump gave Un an opportunity for a photo op not much else.

Typically, when Trump says something unbelievable stupid, it tends to be categorized by his followers as:

                      1. He was joking/being sarcastic
                      2. You don't understand. It's 5D chess. He's a genius.
                      3. Yeah, but what about Joe Biden? That guy's a freaking vegetable!
                      4. Clearly he's still justifiably upset by the massive election fraud.
                      5. It was just locker room talk.

                      I was only joking

When Trump says anything, somebody gets offended and generates some sort of criticism. After awhile, it's like the wind blowing down on the coast. You note which direction and how hard its's blowing, but it usually doesn't signify a whole lot.

                            Yeah, that's true too.

To be honest, I don't think he's particularly profound or for that matter particularly sinister. Half the time he just says stuff that occurred to him 2 minutes ago. 20 years ago, it would be forgotten and nobody would be any the wiser, but now he tweets it so everybody gets to see what crosses his mind as he's taking a dump. This latest one is just stupid shit.

Don't think this one is a brain fart. I think Trump handles Kim in a bit of a unique way. He feeds his ego and acknowledges him on the world stage, making him a bit more pliable to deal.

But don't forget, when actually negotiating, Trump has walked away from him.

Maybe it’s Kim feeding Trump’s ego which would explain these tweets. Then if he turns off the compliments Trump walks away.

I kind of agreed with President Trumps decision to meet Premier Kim. But, like the South Korea "sunshine policy", the DPRK is so inward looking, that it appears impossible to try and develop anything like a personal relationship with them.
