Petraeus just said the new offensive will be quite impressive, coordination of weapons systems.
Of course, both of these could be true.

I think they're trying. It's really hard to achieve the noncom quality and initiative the U.S. and some Western nations have. They don't lack for guts, that's one thing they have in abundance.

I've been quite impressed by the resilience. But then I think how I would be if we were invaded. I'd be plenty pissed and ready to do whatever I could.

One tactic I'm afraid the Russians will use - cannon fodder. Place ill-equipped and ill-trained soldiers to cause as many Ukrainian casualties as possible while the Russians get wiped out. Then the Russians use better equipped and better trained soldiers in a counter-offensive.
The old Little Big Horn strategy, using a collapsing line of soldiers as bait. LBH - first you suck 'em in, then you blow them out.
