The male/female wage gap

It's an interesting thread, by the way. Lots of comments about Asian-American successes.
One has to wonder, "Why?"

Education, effort and culture.
- They believe in education and many excel in STEM courses.
- They tend to be disciplined and work hard.
- They tend to marry within or above their socio-economic level and they are less likely to divorce.

Education, effort and culture.
- They believe in the right kind of education and many excel in STEM courses because that's what's been pushed down their throat.
- They tend to be disciplined and work hard at the things they're brainwashed into working hard for.
The number of asian professionals in my field is the same as the unaccounted for error margin. They just don't do it. Guilt trips are hard-coded into their cultural history: screw your unique talents and abilities, or what you want to do with your life, you owe it to your family to get into medical school or become a software engineer. Coupled with a traditionally reserved culture, they can have burnout and anxiety rates that are on the higher end.

It's important not to wonder too hard, considering the group outcome differences mirror group IQ differences, from Ashkenazy Jews to Asians to Whites to Latinos to Blacks.
Culture also plays a role, though the relationship between IQ and culture is probably also very strong.

On a more general point, I think "good enough IQ to get by in what you're doing" + very good EQ absolutely crushes exceptional IQ with bad EQ every time.

That would be a more specific point rather than a more general point.
If there were group differences in EQ, and if it were measurable, it would be as general a point as the one about IQ.
But there is truth to the adage of A students reporting to the B students. This is probably more to do with "good enough IQ", and a larger sample size (B students) from which to pick the exceptional EQs and all other factors which go into measurable success. Whatever exactly we mean by EQ, and whatever exactly the other factors are. IQ is powerful on a group level, rather than an individual level. Politically, we're concerned with group level performance measures, and IQ dominates.

Just as a SWAG, I bet Ax is a very smart man, with very little future in a sales career.

IQ has become very useful on the job market in the last 50 years, but it never much was, before then.
