      My girlfriend teaches math at a high school in queens specifically for immigrants. She gets many freshly-arrived Central American peasants who have had little formal schooling. She’s supposed to teach them Algebra I or even Algebra II. They’re good kids for the most part, very polite, but most are just not ready for high school curriculum.

      They regularly max out her classes at 34 kids.

        You can't start there, in any subject, without proper prior education. And 34 is a lot of kids for a high school classroom.

        The other problem, is what is this doing to the "regular" (for lack of a better term) students?
