I will have to wait until the new PC is built for this one. Would love to get a Yoke/Pedals controller and 4 large monitors. Maybe two or three of the new ultra-wides.

Just read no VR on launch, but they are making VR support a priority.

Needs to be on an Oculus. Awesome.

@Copper As a flyer, is it pretty realistic?

It has been in the past and I expect it to be.

The first version I used was in the mid 80s. There have been about a dozen versions since then.

The latest version is now 14 years old. And that version is the base simulator software for a line of simulators approved by the FAA for training.

So I expect this to be nice. It will certainly be an immediate best seller.

You can see the videos at the above link, they are nice. The question I have at the moment is how complete are the simulations? Do all the buttons work just like the buttons in the planes? My guess is that on Day 1 the answer is, not quite. But it will grow.

If only they'd add guns, bombs and missiles.

                  I was only joking

It now has VR support. I am having a lot of fun with the new Oculus Rift-S. It is very immersive and the graphics are much better than the first generation. I know there are much better headsets out there with 144Hz refresh and 4k resolution. They just cost too much right now.

I can fly the RC helis in 3D and race F1 and GT cars around any track in the world. I have been on the ISS and
got a pretty good case of motion sickness that latest several minutes, even after taking off the headset. That was a new experience.

Downloading... 129 Gigs! more than 10% of the ssd. Looking forward to piloting a plane in VR.

I've played with X-Plane for years. I think the first version I got was 5.0 and now it's up to 11.0 or so. There are lots of disagreements within the FS community as to which is better. But, for my simplistic needs, X-Plane does the job.

It's very customizable with a huge user support base in which people add aircraft, scenery, situations, etc.

The MS Flight Sim is only for Windows.

It is nice. I also use XPlane 10, I didn't get 11 because I know MSFS was coming. I really wanted to see the updated G1000 in the Flight Sim. G1000 is the computer based digital cockpit screens. It is OK, but not exactly like a real airplane. I spent a lot of time using the real G1000 so I notice the differences.

MSFS is a very nice simulator. I have enjoyed just about all the simulators I've used over the past 30 years. In general the newer ones have higher fidelity than the older ones. So they are better, but I still play with the old ones occasionally.

@george-k I had X-Plane many years ago. I really liked it. I will also get it to compare to MS.

Meanwhile... still downloading MSFS. 100 Gigs complete. 30 to go. Other internet activity is fine and very responsive so it must be throttled on the server.

                            Longest download, ever! lol

Flying in VR is so cool. You actually feel it when you make a turn, dive, climb, etc. Able to turn and look around the aircraft cabin. Looking outside and down to the ground, up to the stars. Night flying is super cool.

I am using my RC Transmitter for my flight controls. It works really well. I might get some pedals and a yoke and throttle. Heck, I am building a full on Sim Racing rig I might as well build it out to handle flying too.

The graphics are stunning on the 49" ultra-wide.

I am actually flying out of my neighborhood airport. 44C
