Target is stupid

I don't think gay nutcrackers have anything to do with Hamas or people robbing stores. I think we need to tackle the problems that are actually important. Recognizing that there are perfectly decent gay people who may or may not want to buy a nutcracker with a rainbow on it has nothing to do with this.
And describing anybody who isn't a heterosexual as some kind of pervert is just plain fucking dumb.
People who rob stores should be prosecuted. People who kill children should be eradicated. You're not going to do either of these things whining about a gay nutcracker. If you don't like it, don't buy it.
Incidentally, gay people I know think the rainbow capitalism like this is a rather stupid and cynical marketing ploy. It's got nothing to do with gay rights

Wait until they discover that Tchaikovsky was homosexual. They’ll need more than a fainting couch.

Well, first they'll need to Google Tchaikovsky. Then they'll be horrified that Target is selling this type of un-American product. As we all know, Christmas was invented by heterosexual white conservatives who were present at the birth of Jesus, and presented him with American made nutcrackers containing Frank's incense, which is a type of cologne worn by large, hairy men with moustaches who wrestle, but not in a gay way.
OK, I think I may have gone off on a bit of a tangent.

Impossible. He was Russian and they just don’t go for that.

I always thought nutcrackers were gay, anyway. I mean, they want you you to put your nuts in their mouth…
-
I don't know whether rainbows are really gay, but they're certainly on the spectrum.

The point is, it's woke politics that exacerbates the issue. Saying gay customers should be accommodated for—or just actually doing it—is one thing. Wanna push as many people as possible away from the result you're hoping for? Make the issue radical. Call those who disagree with you a bigot and a Nazi. If you don't like how they voice their opinions, call their very speech violence. That's a great way to give the gay community as many enemies as possible.
Go ahead and pretend woke politics doesn't exist and try to tackle these issues in a vacuum if you like, it's not going to work. I think we should just look at these issues in a common-sense way, too, but the woke innovation of weaponizing politics to this degree has effectively destroyed that.

It would work much better if they gave equal time to Palestinians.
They have a different view of gay devotees, but it deserves the DEI that would be given to any other community.
The government used to require this type of fairness.
The fairness doctrine of the United States Federal Communications Commission (FCC), introduced in 1949, was a policy that required the holders of broadcast licenses both to present controversial issues of public importance and to do so in a manner that fairly reflected differing viewpoints.

it’s a nutcracker. A nutcracker isn’t gay, it isn’t straight, it’s a nutcracker. Why does it need to be anything else? Why does it even need to be sexualized?
-
It’s also a themed toy for a specific holiday to celebrate a specific individual that happened to teach forgiveness of sin, but he also specifically said “Go and sin no more”. So maybe just maybe we shouldn’t promote sin as a part of the holiday to celebrate this individual?
-
Target’s sales have been sucking. They got even worse when they fully embraced the Pride stuff. Maybe this isn’t the wisest time to double down? Especially coming into the busiest retail season which is based on celebrating a guy that said “Go, and have gay sex no more”? I might be paraphrasing….

In all honesty I don’t really understand the connection between the nutcracker and baby Jesus. However, speaking of sin, maybe somebody needs to tell the fat bastard in the red suit about gluttony. Just how many mince pies does one disabled black guy need?
One could write an interesting essay on how modern Christmas has far more in common with promoting pretty much all of the 7 Deadly Sins than it ever does with some poor Jewish kid born in a stable.

@Jolly said in Target is stupid:
Maybe you go to the wrong Christmas celebrations.
One can hardly avoid it. Every bloody shop in the country starts up with their Christmas celebration of spirituality before Halloween.
-
@Jolly said in Target is stupid:
If you're hunting Christmas in shops, it's rarely there.
So, why all the concern about black Santa and gay nutcrackers?
I'd venture to suggest that good old fashioned materialism does more to undermine Christmas than any number of rainbow products.
-
I think Aqua did a good job talking about gay nutcrackers and woke Christmas.
Might want to read what the lad wrote.
I couldn't see you having this conversation about Ramadan in several parts of England.

I'd suggest that Ramadan is much more akin to Lent. Eid would be the rough equivalent of Christmas. As far as I can remember, there wasn't a gross commercialization of those festivals.
And I was happy to tease my Islamic friends about numerous things, including their fasting. They generally took in good part and cheerfully told me I would burn in hell.
