Where does one draw the line between ’corrupt’ and ‘icky’ (to use a technical term)?

For sure what “the Biden family” (GOP-speak for ‘not Joe Biden’) did was icky. What, in your mind, would move it from ‘icky’ to ‘corrupt’?

    Only non-witches get due process.

Vice President Biden and a foreign national in "the exchange of money for policy decisions."

That's what it says. Certainly, the definition of corrupt.

      Corrupt and criminal.

        It's corrupt. Pay for access.

What evidence do we have that any decisions were rendered in return for the various payments?

@George-K Thats actually where I was going with this!

Of course one difference is Justice Thomas himself engaged in this “ickiness” whereas with the Biden family it seems to be people with the golden last name, from what we know now.

I have the above linked article.

The story is about Joe Biden, not the "family"

The story is that there is evidence that proves corrupt criminal activity

Other than that I don't have anything.

The incriminating evidence comes from thousands of subpoenaed banking records, wire transfers, and electronic transactions contained in more than 170 suspicious activity reports (SARs) that were flagged by banks and sent to the criminal division at the Treasury Department. The Biden administration refused to cough up those records until the Committee recently forced its hand. There are still more documents to be examined, suggesting that the Biden profiteering could far exceed the millions of dollars already tracked.

@Copper That’s all about the “Biden Family” (aka ‘not Joe’)

The only thing regarding Joe himself is that someone told House Republicans that an anonymous guy accused Joe of taking bribes and the FBI interviewed him and took notes.

Why bother trying to minimize it?

We can see what it says.

It says there is evidence that Joe is a traitor and a criminal.

Maybe you should do something about it. Write your Congessman. Send a letter to the editor. Convene a meeting of concerned citizens in local community hall.

Start a thread expressing your outrage and indignation on a social media forum like TNCR.

Dig a hole in your backyard and scream into it for all the neighbours to hear.

                      Elbows up!

You can’t see what it says because it hasn’t been released, if it exists at all.

I don’t minimize the “ickiness” of Hunter, I’ve said here that I would love to see him arrested, if what we read about the evidence against him is true.

I’ve also given some thought about what we could conceivably do about politician’s family members trading on their name and it’s hard to imagine what we could realistically do to prevent it.

You can demand financial transparency and ethics rules for the candidates themselves, but it’s not like (say) your uncle running for office could obligate you to submit financial disclosures.

So it's pretty much a tie with Trump when it comes to past financial corruption.
But what sort of person would vote for a rapist?

I don't know if any of this is criminal or not. But it seems to me that a guy with the powers of a senator, VP and now POTUS could exert enough influence to stop his kid from trading on his name. That didn't happen.

It’s been a problem a long time. Hunter’s case is pretty egregious. The Trump family was probably the worst offender between Ivanka’s Chinese interests and Saudi Arabia and the Gulf states pouring money into Trump properties.

But it goes back as far as I can remember. Remember Billy Beer?

But what sort of person would vote for a rapist?

What kind of person would be a fan of the TV show hosted by a rapist?

Same kind of person that would lobby for a law that override the statute of limitations, strictly so she could sue Trump. A law that sunsets in 12 months from its inception.

The thing that got me about that was her 'perfect victim' routine. Now I understand that in many instances a victim might not scream or fight back. But she was in a dressing area in Bergdorfs. One small yell would have kiboshed the whole thing.

Need to note the law. It's a sexual harassment law. Sexual harassment law, IMO, is some of the most nebulous, wishy-washy, absolutely shitty law that exists.

Trump was not convicted of rape, he was found guilty of sexual harassment. That could range from inappropriate touching to trying to steal a kiss.

As a pretty damn good labor attorney told me one time, these violations are purely a matter of the victim's perception.

I think it's an entire area of law we need to take a very hard look at and refine.
