BMW: Do Not Drive, Park Immediately

… [BMW] has just issued a warning for thousands of consumers who have purchased some of its models. The car manufacturer is asking owners of 90,000 BMW models from 2000 to 2006 not to drive these vehicles anymore, because they are equipped with dangerous, defective airbags manufactured by the Japanese equipment manufacturer Takata.
"BMW has issued a 'Do Not Drive' warning today," the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) said in a notice. "Owners of these vehicles should park them immediately and contact BMW for more information."

Takata airbags have been problematic for a long time. My 2006 Audi A4 was subject to a Takata airbag recall.

My daughter was in an accident last week, driving her 2015 Hyundai Elantra. The car was recalled a couple of years ago and the air bag replaced. She hit a car parked in the bike lane, she was taken to the hospital and is still in the hospital as of today 5/7. The car is totaled.
But what is angering, is the air bag did not deploy! I asked the body shop where I had it towed to give me a formal estimate on Monday and also their opinion as to why the bag didn't deploy. Allstate has already contacted me a couple of times (I'm on the title and registration, I bought the car for her when she got out of the Navy), and even on my description only, they want to expedite the process and issue a check. Allstate wants to tow the car to their private lot to save me money of "storage charges" but I will not release the vehicle, yet.
She will be OK, but was bruised and blood clots by her pancreas. She still says she feels like she was hit by a Mack truck.
So, if the airbag should have deployed, when obviously it should have with impact around 35-40 mph, then is anyone liable? Or will it be "pass the responsibility" game. -

@Rainman Glad she is "mostly" ok. Hope improvement is back to 100%
