This year's NFL draft was highly unusual. This draft class had very few bonafide "stars" coming out of college, but the draft did have a lot of guys who will play in the NFL. Maybe starters, maybe rotational guys, maybe special teams.

But I think a lot of these guys stick.

And because of that, I think most teams are pretty happy with their selections. I know all the teams in the NFC South thought they did okay.

Let us also not forget, I think we will see at least 10 guys from the XFL and USFL make NFL rosters this coming year.

One thing I would really like to see change, though. A 53-man roster is too small with the number of injuries today. Teams need 56-57 players active on game day. I also think practice squad players should be able to be activated the day of the game, as long as it is at least 4 hours before kickoff.

I'd agree with that. Teams need depth badly, and they are all paying more attention to that in recent years.

The problem is the development of that talent. There’s just not enough starter reps to go around and reps with the 2nd string results in developing as a second string player. The NFLPA would be wise to push for a certain percentage of starting reps for 2nd and 3rd stringers in practice.
