Apple TV+ has a free trial, so I thought I'd give this a shot. The movie was pulled from theaters because of the pandemic and went straight to Apple TV.

What a disappointment this movie was.

It's a short movie, about 90 minutes of actual movie. More than 90% of it is Hanks giving orders to his men on the "Greyhound", a Fletcher-class destroyer, which is escorting a convoy across the Atlantic in early 1942.

Special effects were very good, but the story gave no sense of character, etc. It was like watching cat and mouse for an hour and a half.

2/4 stars, and that's being generous.

The trailer is thrilling, of course, but if you watch it, you've seen the entire movie:

Oh, Hanks was certainly good in it. He played Tom Hanks.

It was the storytelling that I found wanting. It was like watching (ducking) Nascar for an hour and a half, but with right turns and crashes as well.

Just watched it. I found the cat and mouse of the Battle of the Atlantic pretty compelling. Very high tension, which was their aim. It's a story seldom told but worth the telling.

Just watched it and I’m with Mik. I found it reasonably compelling.
