If you feed Blue Buffalo Senior, this is a very similar food about $15/bag cheaper. The dogs prefer the BB (I think mostly because of the shape of the kibble), but they do eat this pretty well...

@Jolly thanks, might be worth a look.

We currently use Purina Pro-Plan, which is only slightly more expensive than this one. Both dogs did like it, but the younger one has been getting slightly reluctant occasionally recently.

      I was only joking

We feed Cosmo Fromm Family - Beef Frittata Veg

        https://frommfamily.com/products/dog/four-star/dry/beef-frittata-veg-recipe/

We buy direct. They are just up the road a couple of hours from us.

Expensive though. 26lbs which lasts about 3 months or more, is now $96 with free shipping and it gets here in one day.

When Cosmo was a puppy it was $78 but that was 4 years ago now.

It's even more per pound if you buy smaller bags.

I might have to look into alternative brands. Will need to buy a small bag first to see how he tolerates a new food.

What we've done when we change brands is start by mixing the new one in with the old one, and making the transition gradually. We learned a lesson when we made a sudden change. The dog loved the new flavour, unfortunately his stomach didn't agree.

@Doctor-Phibes thanks for the advice. I remember reading something about that a few years ago but needed a reminder in the event we attempt to switch foods.

The breeder highly recommended this brand and recipe for the breed. It's really all he has known aside from the very rare instance when we ran out or when he get freeze dried liver treats and other "treats" like people food that gets "dropped" on occasion. He happily eats this dry food.
