Whole Foods had a great sale on Alaskan wild caught Sockeye salmon today so I stocked up. Will vac-seal it tomorrow to freeze. Since I was looking for a recipe to use some Thai basil this came up.

I did not have any coconut aminos or fresh ginger so I subbed in some lime zest and very thinly sliced jalapenos. Will have with grilled asparagus.

      Looks really good, Mik!!
Sorry all those leaves blew all over it, but you can pick those off.

Hope Horace sees this. He's sadly gotten so fat, we've been discussing it on occasion. We're on a weight gain diet, actually.

What makes sockeye so special over plain old salmon? (Pacific, of course.)

I generally prefer farmed salmon to wild sockeye. But that's a personal taste thing. Wild sockeye is leaner.

It's just a species of salmon. More color, tastier meat. It's the Alaskans' preference.

Was it Rainman who was talking about just going to read about my cooking? I could be wrong about it being Loki.

I'll bet it was delicious, you have the gift, the touch, the desire!

Even I like salmon. We have a lot here in the northwest.
You can catch it yourself, with expensive fishing licenses. Or, go up the river to Cascade Locks or around there, where the Native Americans sell on the side of the road. They have no restrictions on how many they can catch and sell. Otherwise, the limit is 2.
I went out over a year ago, and caught my usual 0.
