Edit: I was (slightly) wrong. AB donated $25K more to the GOP than the Democrats. Still an order of magnitude less than the source you cited.

DeSantis just sees where his base is and is taking advantage of the the opportunity. And for him it’s a bonus that it’s the opposite of the Trump position.
