Wow!
Hope they are able to get better with minimum side affects.

Both are hospitalized. What are the odds? Points to something.
I've had a completely unsubstantiated-by-any-scientific-data suspicion that there's a genetic component to who gets really sick with this virus, admittedly based on nothing more than reading stuff on the internet about multiple family members getting really sick.
-
Are they not applying some kind of big data analysis on the worst cases to try to figure this out? I realize it requires extensive testing to even get the data set, let alone the analysis, but c'mon. Global pandemic.

Donate, they will test for covid and give you results, including your type.
-
They won't take my blood as they're scared of Mad Cow disease.
It strikes me that it's a bit late for that, but anyway....
I've probably got my blood type documented somewhere, but I don't know where.

I donated whole blood at a Red Cross facility recently. I don't think they test my blood for COVID-19, or if they do, they haven't say anything about testing my blood for COVID-19 with me.

Anesthesiologist who used to work in town and has since moved back to South Louisiana, has two of his college-aged sons hospitalised with COVID. They transferred one of them this weekend for ECMO treatment.
The young man is 19.
Novel virus, indeed...

Sorry that this wretched disease has hit your friend's sons.

+1. It's terrible they're so young, too.

Not a friend. We worked at different hospitals and as the old saying goes "I don't know him, but I know of him". I heard about his boys from a retired surgeon I know.

Thanks ... that web page ways the Red Cross started doing antibody testing on June 15; my last donation was made just a few days before that, so that explains why no one said anything about antibody testing when I donated.

I know 2 blood type O’s who were very healthy people and got whacked pretty well- no hospital though. Seems like the blood type is a factor but not the big one.
