I'm against changing the race or gender of characters taken from books to film. Filmmakers should remain faithful to the author's depiction. It's his/her creation, after all. To fiddle with the race/gender is to show contempt for the creator.

Honestly the Daniel Craig character was about as far from Bond as you could get.

The movies were entertaining, but they weren’t really Bond films.

Really? I thought his portrayal in Casino Royale was pretty spot on. Also, the movie was faithful to the book.

Far from the Bond Character? David Niven, with Roger Moore second.

Faithful to the original books or not, if the movies weren’t entertaining, we would not be talking about “Bond films” now.

What contemporary parents would read The Little Mermaid to their children if Disney has not given them an alternate version with a singing crab and a happy ending?

Yes, Daniel Craig was not a traditional movie Bond. The movies were OK, but not at all in the Bond tradition, too heavy, too dark.

Woke drove it. The tough Female M, the sinister Bond, bad white male.

Woke will drive the black female Bond. Bond will be good again, no more evil male Bond.

                Woke is not for everyone.

One of the best Bond films. Fleming's Bond could be cold and ruthless. I think Craig portrays that aspect pretty well in the film.
