A Matter of Degrees

Doesn't seem like a bad idea to me. People should get paid for how good they are at their job, not how well they did at university. Typically, graduates will do better, but not always. The idea of forcing somebody to do a degree if they want a particular job always struck me as a bit dumb.

I appreciate that direction, of de-emphasizing degrees, much more than the other direction, of making degrees ubiquitous.

The NBA has the right system.
Merit matters.
Some kids can play out of high school.
Some need 4 years of additional training.
Some never make it at all.

Yeap, good thing to remove requirement for four-year degree for jobs that do not really need such a degree.

I don’t mind the removal of the degree but I have to tell you that most government jobs do not pay 6 figures…
And income inflation does nobody any good.

I’ve long believed that.
