In one of Greenberg's lectures, he comments that, 200 years ago, the ONLY way you could hear music was live. You had to make it yourself, or listen to someone else make it - live.
That's all changed, and he says that "Music has become a commodity."
The joy of unwrapping an LP, etc...all that's gone.
