Illinois employees will accrue one hour of paid leave for every 40 hours worked up to 40 hours tota

So every week, I get an hour off?

Every 40 weeks, I get 40 hours off?

So, if I have menstrual cramps (and I identify as a woman, of course) I can get an extra week off every 40 weeks?

      Cool.

That'll bring Boeing (and others) back, to be sure.

I don't think paid vacation is too much to expect from life. I certainly wouldn't work somewhere where I wasn't given paid leave.

40 hours every 40 weeks? Fuck that. I get 29 days off a year, plus I buy another 5 days. And it's still not enough.

        I was only joking

          You need to work harder.

I took 1000 vacation hours off in 34 years. I took 32 hours of sick leave in that same span.

Basically, this means a bit more than 1 week vacation minimum a year. I dont think that is too much to ask for. If a company offered only that amount of time off, I am not sure I would work for them.

              LOL.

When at the University, I got 25 (weekdays) a year, after 3 years. People thought I was crazy when I wanted to buy another 15.

I totally respect your right to work hard.
You are an adult in a free society.
You should get to work as hard as you choose to.

Say, why stop after 34 years, why not keep going?

I guess some people love the work they do.

My job's ok, and I get treated pretty well, but I love my free time way more.

That's a 2.5% increase in labor cost, plus whatever it costs to administer.

You want a job with paid vacation? Learn to do something where that is the standard.

Where is the impetus to better oneself? Generally, jobs that don't offer paid time off are not permanent jobs.

I remember during the 70's when the unions claimed they had the 4-day work week.

Their time off for vacation, sick leave and personal days added up to 52 days.

This was also at the time that Japan was crushing the auto industry. And Detroit was crushing itself.
