It’s becoming more difficult to be a mindless leftist and pretend it’s based on anything other than blind cultural indoctrination, for one’s own social advantage, or mere social survivability. Of course survival is a great advantage, but describing it in terms of survival rather than advantage is probably more to the point.

A hatred of rational discourse, or a hatred of ideas that might betray one’s own basic primate motivations of power and status, will always manifest as hatred of free speech. That’s why legitimately thoughtful people prize it so much.
