Klaus and Anna, two colleagues in the Mathematics Department at University of Wannweil, wind up seated together on the bus to campus.

Klaus begins a conversation with "So, Anna, how are your kids doing? How old are they now, anyway?"

"It turns out," says Anna as she is putting the €1 change from the bus driver into her wallet, "that the sum of their ages is the number of this bus, and the product is the number of Euros that happen to be in my purse at the moment."

"Aha!" replies Klaus. "So, if I remembered how many kids you have, and you told me how much money you are carrying, I could deduce their ages?"

    "Actually, no," says Anna.

"In that case," says Klaus, "I know how much money is in your purse."

    What is the bus number?

Let's assume a non zero number of kids whose ages are positive integers. Smartass

Besides, we know she has at least one Euro.

              The bus is the father.

The Bus? I guess he could be the father. Those guys get around.

                  The bus number is 94.

It's very simple. If you assign numbers to the letters of the alphabet, that is, A=1, B=2 and so on, when you spell out I HATE KLAUS, the total comes to 94.

Damnit! This wasn't Klaus's puzzle! Hold on for the corrected answer.

If you spell out I HATE JON, the corrected bus number is 81.

Spelling it out is fun, but wait till you try acting it out!

This strikes me as one of those problems that's answerable with a little elbow grease. Is it interesting to get into for some reason?
