      There are over 199,213 apprentices currently employed in the United States. 21.6% of all apprentices are women, while 78.4% are men.

      College is for girls

        That’s largely what I majored in.

            Back to the union angle, and where I think they are missing the boat...The unions used to have the best apprenticeship programs, at least down here. As one construction manager told me, "I'll pay more for union labor, because I know what I'll get".

            Now, that may not be the case up North, but down here, union guys were usually known for being competent and a good union foreman (the contractors knew who they were) would run the dregs off of his job pretty quick.
