Backing up

I was walking through the parking lot of our local grocery store and I heard the characteristic "beep-beep-beep" of a truck backing up. I looked around and saw no truck.

It was a small Kia SUV.

I never heard that on a passenger vehicle. Is this a new thing?

Some people install it after market. Don’t know why but some do. Mostly seniors or people with wheelchair disability stickers displayed.
