Back in the the 80's there had been stories about the Iranians reporting on Christian militia operating freely in the UK streets.

Turns out they'd read about The Salvation Army, and assumed the worst. The reality of course was far worse. Brass bands!

The report could have suggested expelling all the Jesuits. There are precedents for that when the forces of Counter Reformation, Ultramontanism and the papal legions start getting out of hand. That or, in the time honoured tradition, just sacking Rome again.
