@Jolly said in Go North, young alien...:
At least New York is doing Canada a favor and helping supply them with cheap labor.
Assuming they are Francophones, granted sanctuary and can find employment in Quebec.
Not likely.@Renauda said in Go North, young alien...:

Not likely. They're both romance languages and many of the words are similar.

Tell that to Francois Legault and his Coalition Avenir Québec. Won’t get you far, in fact, they will laugh at you derisively.

They laugh at everything derisively. They're still dumber than a $10 mule.
I wouldn’t say they are dumb. Not at all. They are fiercely protective of their francophone culture and make no excuses to the anglophone world surrounding Quebec. Their motto is je me souviens a sort of Québécois version of Don’t Tread on Me or Remember the Alamo.

I come from a culture that is highly French-influenced. I've knocked around Quebec.
A large portion of the population are arrogant assholes.

Migrants being bused to Canada are reportedly voicing concern over the cold weather seen in our neighbor to the north, with some even electing to turn back to the US - despite getting a free ride at the expense of taxpayers.
The asylum seekers hail from Latin America, but are being bused from New York City, which is currently experiencing an abnormal outflow of migrants from states such as Texas and Florida.
Originally welcomed into The Big Apple with open arms, the foreigners last month voiced discontent over an alternative shelter offered by Mayor Eric Adams, citing its bare-bones amenities - all after being put up for months in posh, luxury hotels, paid for by New York citizens.
The criticisms spurred the mayor - who's struggled to address the abnormal outflow of travelers since assuming office last year - to announce last week that the city would buy bus tickets for newcomers who would prefer to live in Canada.
However, just days after reports surfaced that some of the travelers were fleeing New York because of 'drugs' and homelessness, several are having second thoughts - with some outright refusing the offer because the country has 'lots of snow.'

I had a number of Vietnamese friends in Canada, all of whom went there as refugees after the war.
Pretty much every single of them had a funny story about their first winter. I must admit, my first -40 degree blizzard had me seriously questioning my life choices.
They tell me it's not as bad, now, but I don't believe them. When I came to Boston for my job interview, everybody was complaining about the cold - Mrs. Phibes and I had been secretly basking in the relative warmth, and had taken our first two layers of clothing off.

The government of Canada’s largest province is demanding that Mayor Eric Adams “immediately” stop helping migrants illegally enter the Great White North, as recently revealed by The Post.
“Any form of assistance to migrants crossing the border where it is strictly forbidden to do so should stop immediately,” a spokesperson for Quebec Premier Francois Legault said.
“We understand that the situation of migrants in New York poses major challenges, but the situation in Quebec and particularly in Montreal is even worse and constitutes an important humanitarian issue.”
Earlier this month, The Post exclusively reported that Adams was using taxpayer funds to get bus tickets for migrants in the Big Apple to travel upstate to Plattsburgh.
From there, migrants take taxis and vans to a cul-de-sac at the end of Roxham Road in Champlain, where they walk across the border and surrender to Canadian Mounties to seek asylum, as The Post documented on Feb. 5.
Disgruntled migrants fed up with the Big Apple's crime and grime are taking off to the Great White North -- on bus rides paid for by New York taxpayers, The Post has learned.
As many as 250 migrants use the Roxham Road crossing to illegally enter Canada each day, with nearly all of them settling in Montreal, Quebec’s biggest city, Legault spokesperson Ewan Sauves said.
The situation has overwhelmed Montreal’s ability to provide housing and other public services, with the flood of new students alone equivalent to the opening of 13 new schools, he said.
How awkward.
