Or could it be because the GOP elected one to congress and leadership spends a small part of each day defending he/she/it?

I haven't seen anybody defend him other than Santos defending himself. But I don't follow this stuff.
If you'd like to make fun of him for being a cross dresser, by all means do so. But I doubt a defense of Santos is outweighing the political value of presenting drag queen story hours as an example of leftist cultural decay.
