The Go-Go's are often held up the best girl's rock band of the 80's, while The Bangles are dismissed as a pop band. I think the distinction is wrong.
Record sales were 7M for the first, 40M for the latter.
For one of the great gags in music history, the record producer of The Bangles biggest hit convinced Susanna to do the lead vocal in the nude, since that's how Olivia Newton-John recorded her ballads. The song turned out so well, she recorded most of the rest of the album naked.
BTW, Newton-John never recorded in the nude.

I'm sure there's a fair bit of cosmetic surgery involved, but it's still impressive and presumably includes a very healthy lifestyle, sports, etc.

She's a Southern California critter with friends in the tv and movie industry, so I don't doubt it. But the work hasn't been much. Body-wise, she's known for eating mostly vegetarian and for a lot of yoga. Plus, she's a petite woman, which helps, I guess...Seems to me that petite people seem to age a little slower. She's had good definition in her arms and kegs past the point that many of us do.
She's just changed a year or two ago, to performing in pants, rather than miniskirts.
