Movies and TV episodes showing big military hardware ...
-
It used to be that only American made movies and TV episodes show realistic (as opposed to CGI/SciFi) depictions of big military hardware like carriers, war ships, submarines, bombers, fighter jets, etc.
Now I notice more and more China produced movies and TV episodes do this too. It’s like they actively want their own people, and perhaps their neighbors too, to “see” China as having a more powerful, modernized military.
Another trend I notice is that more and more China made TV series feature stories of Chinese expanding their brands and businesses to the US and affluent Western European countries. It’s no longer about Americans and Europeans go to China and make investments in China, but about China expanding their own brands into the US and Europe. The protagonists go to the USA, Switzerland, Italy, etc. Nobody goes to Russia anymore. And to the extent that the China TV like to showcase token white people in their shows, they are often blondes and such characters would often come from the USA or Western Europe even though the actors playing them are more likely Russians. It’s like they want to show their own people that white people like and want to go to China and be with the Chinese people.
No, I have not seen any new China made movie or TV episode utter the word “Taiwan” for a very long time. The older ones would sometimes depict Taiwanese businessmen visiting the mainland to build a factory or something.
Oh, when recent mainland China made movies and TV episodes show big military hardware in action fighting “terrorists” or the “bad guys” in general, these “terrorists/bad guys” are always black Africans. Historically, China has no beef with any African country, it’s not like Japan invaded China so you see lots of kungfu movies with Chinese kungfu heroes beating up Japanese “bad guys.” This treatment of always casting black African actors as the “terrorists/bad guys”, I suppose, can only be chalked up to racism and discrimination against dark skin.
