House GOP's priorities ... what are they?

... McCarthy berated the previous Congress for failing to deal with the “chaos on the southern border,” “out-of-control crime” and the economy. So what is he doing about those issues now?
As for crime, the new majority had to pull two pro-police bills from the floor over internal Republican disagreements.
As for the economy, Republicans are squabbling over a bill imposing a national sales tax, which McCarthy promised the far right he would bring to the floor.
And their plan to address “chaos on the southern border” has itself devolved into chaos.
...
While Republicans have so far stalled on crime, the economy and the border, they are moving ahead rapidly with more pressing matters — such as Hunter Biden’s artwork.
...It seems they cannot govern.

You're not getting a national sales tax.
You will get a border bill of some kind.
I think you will get a budget bill and it's going to contain some cuts.
I think you're getting a crime bill, with carrots and sticks. The carrot being training money. I don't know what the stick will be.

@jon-nyc said in House GOP's priorities ... what are they?:
I think there’s almost no chance the GOP will present a budget.
Dunno.
There is a general consensus on the right side of the aisle that we're spending too much, so I think they'll try to come up with something. I know there is some talk about a variation on the Penny Plan...Maybe not as austere as Paul's Six Penny Plan, but something along those lines...I've heard maybe more a 1% first year, 2% second year and some variation afterwards.
It failed to gain enough traction before, maybe it won't this time, either.
