Parting remarks from a chest-cutter

Dr. John Calhoon, the outgoing president of the Society of Thoracic Surgeons, posted the slide immediately below as part of his farewell remarks.
Thank goodness he was leaving. Otherwise they would have had to throw him out of the society.
I've known a lot of chest-cutters, and I never thought any of them were snowflakes, until now:

Diversity, equity, and inclusion
are code words used to intimidate and spread fear and hatred.
The way they are used will end soon.
In 10 years, the whole concept will sound so naive, and so stupid.

Mrs. George and I were having this conversation today. Looking back 10 years, you never heard of this shit. And I mentioned the pendulum to her. She asked me if I think it's swinging back.
I told her I don't know.

Lots of indoctrinated True Believers out there. Lots of permanent GOP haters, too, even if they are not True Believers in the leftist narratives. We have a culture problem. The GOP haters will never have the courage to lose friends over any of the diversity stuff.

We had a fair amount of diversity going on when there was an American in charge.
He's since retired and has been replaced by somebody from Yorkshire. Typically, people from that part of the world consider diversity to be drinking wine and beer out of the same glass with the meal in order to save time on the washing up.

I talked to some people in this business today. They said the really big deal wasn’t so much that he put the slide up, but that it got a standing ovation!
I was heartened to hear the news.

Wow. That’s both encouraging, and in the context of the STS response disturbing.
