    https://www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-64082923
"A two-year ban on some foreigners buying homes in Canada has come into effect.

The ban aims to help ease one of the most unaffordable housing markets in the world.

As of this summer, the average home price in Canada is C$777,200 ($568,000; £473,700) - more than 11 times the median household income after taxes."

As a quick check, the house we bought for Cdn$135,000 in 1999 is now valued at about $700K, which is going some.

    I was only joking

Good thing my uncle already bought one in Newfoundland.

It's kind of weird - when we moved there in 1997, one of the big selling points was how affordable housing was - the house we bought was huge by British standards, and cost the same as my very modest British house sold for.....

....then we got the winter heating bill. Yikes.

Moving to Massachusetts was very painful - we got a house of roughly half the size for roughly twice the price.

Now the Ontario prices look pretty similar to Massachusetts, which we recently left because of the cost.

          I was only joking
