I use self checkout all the time and can’t help but think about all the ways you could steal with it.

Wait, Walmart’s not making that claim, it’s customers and random employees making that claim. I would like to see a little better analysis than just a Walmart stocker giving their opinion…

I don't know why people bother with self checkout.

I mean, just grab the stuff and walk out. It's not like anyone's going to stop you, amirite?

If our societal reckoning from the murder of George Floyd taught us nothing else, surely it taught us that.

              Education is extremely important.

Amazon.com has been experimenting with the “just grab the stuff and walk out” concept:

One thing I heard of, but never would have thought of or never would try, is people who buy expensive produce but key it in as something cheaper.

I just dont get it why people would do that.

@taiwan_girl there are at least a couple of scam-ey types of things.

One is people exchange barcodes from inexpensive items for pricier ones.

The other is the Amazon scam - buy something expensive and something cheap. When you decide to return the item, bring the expensive barcode to the store (which never looks at the item) and the cheap item.

I once did that accidentally which is what got me thinking about this. I always buy bananas, code 4011. One day the bananas were bright green so I I got organic bananas. Out of habit I keyed them in with 4011 rather than 94011 (organic is always 9 followed by the regular code).
