Deep, Deep Sigh

From an artistic and interesting article here:
https://www.wsj.com/articles/brock-purdy-tom-brady-49ers-bucs-11670846534The flabbergasting Sunday breakout of Brock Purdy, the former Iowa State sensation and dead-last pick of the 2022 NFL draft, starting the very first game of his professional career versus Tampa Bay and middle-aged NorCal quarterback hero Tom Brady.
That’s right. On one side: a certain Hall of Famer with seven Super Bowl rings, and nearly every essential QB record in football history.
On the other side: Brock Purdy!
In this contest, the man nicknamed “Mr. Irrelevant”—the snide nickname annually bequeathed upon the draft’s very final selection—thoroughly outplayed the icon as the 49ers cruised to a rowdy 35-7 rout over the flailing Buccaneers.
(That's right: 35-7.)
San Francisco’s win was a reminder that A) the Niners are balanced team with a great defense and multiple offensive stars B) these 2022 Buccaneers pretty much stink** and C) NFL-grade talent can lurk in unexpected places.
You never know. Three words of motivation every low pick must recite like a mantra. Football fashions itself as a precise business, but there’s no such thing as a sure thing.
You never know. In the NFL, it’s the only thing you can count on.
Ask Brady. And Brock Purdy.
^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^ ^**It had to be said. Last night I came closest to agreeing. I said loud and savagely (to nobody), Y'know, it's too bad Brady can't run. He could train to run really fast and throw the ball and then outrun it and catch it at the other end and run it into the end zone and he WOULDN'T NEED THE REST OF THESE FECKIN BUMBLING LOSERS AT ALL!
