Makes sense. A nerve block on your shoulder gives perspective on what it is to have a useless, deadweight arm. I can see preferring no arm at all. Limbs are surprisingly heavy and awkward when they can't participate in moving themselves.

I heard similar stories about legs. With legs, amputation is mostly a non brainer because the dead weight is annoying in so many ways.
