Efficiency, no matter how great, never removes the burden of repair and replacement. The beauty of a traditional bike drivetrain is that it can last years or decades, but when it does crap out, the parts are very easily machined and installed.
Still pretty cool, though. I'd want to see it in a 'cross race before I buy one.
