I was walking around today and saw this and was wondering what it is for? It looks like they are maybe going to put a new pole in the ground? I assume that the tire is just there for protection until they finish
There are many placed there along the sidewalk, But they are placed irregular and there does not seem to be any pattern to them. I don't even think they are all the same distance from the street (though they may be)
This is a picture of the "wiring" above the sidewalk that maybe they are going to replace? I haven't seen this anywhere but it kind of made me curious.
On another interesting thing I saw, I came across this crazy guy drawing on the sidewalk. His drawings are all over town. Quite detailed and scientific looking (but I could not decipher them). I wonder what goes on in his mind. He was talking and gesturing so obviously, in his mind, he is solving something. The Mad Professor I guess
This is the first time I have actually seen him "in action"

Take high resolution detailed photos of his drawings and post them here to one up @jon-nyc's puzzle threads. May be TNCR can solve his problems for him.

@Axtremus Here you go. 555
Some other random pictures of the front streets and backstreets of Bangkok
Very poor neighborhood next to the rail tracks. Somewhat funny that the one "house" on the left had an A/C unit that was not connected to anything.
I don't know if anyone here is an electricity person, but this wiring probably does not follow code.
Best (and cheapest) way to avoid the traffic in BKK. Use a canal boat
Hard to see, but there are a couple of monks ahead who were finishing getting their morning alms.

The interesting thing about this picture is that it is an electric boat. Just saw it this morning. Used as a "commuter" boat on the canals.
Seems like it would be a good situation to have a electric boat. They don't go that far, they are not in use 24 hours, etc. For sure, they are much quieter and don't have the nasty diesel fumes of the other boats. It appears to have solar panels on the roof, which should help as BKK gets alot of hot sun during the year.
I will be curious how this works out.

Some more random pics of BKK
I would think if you were going to spend money on a company sign, you would make sure the words are correct. It's hard to see, but even on the side of the shop, it is spelled wrong also.Too a trip today to Bang Nam Phueng, a three sided "island" in the Chao Praya river. Close to BKK, but seems like a long ways away.
Signs of the recent flooding in BKK. Long and heavy rainy season this year. Fortunately, it appears to be over.
Our lunch restaurant and my friend (not me) showing off our USD $1.50 spiced pork and rice lunch. (Called Kra Pao in Thai)
Bang Nam Phueng - very rural seeming.
Interesting bug. It actually is only about the size of period dot. Guess it was drinking the water on the table.
Thought of @Aqua-Letifer and @jon-nyc and other bike riders when I saw this. Like the Romans, they don't have bike lanes, only wheelchair lanes!! 555
