Interesting article. One article I read talked about how officers in the PLA have "decision paralysis". They are either afraid to make a decision because of fear of upper level bad feedback, or because their whole background in schooling and training is based on being told what to do, even officers do not know how to think independently.

The PLA services still run very independently, and there has not been alot of cross training/ccoperation between them. This could be a major problem in a modern war where in the US, for example, the Marines, Army, Navy, Air Force are used to working with each other.

Another concern which has been talk about before is the upcoming population "crash". I believe that this will result in a lot if internal disruption. Not sure if they race to modernize the military will come first or the population crash will come first.

Sounds like the mindset of the Russian military.

The saying, "Lite is just one damn thing after another," is a gross understatement. The damn things overlap.
