I know one of the guys whose name is on the paper. Not the lead author, but still. THey're getting a lot of criticism for doing this onshore.
They had an important finding though, it's not the spike protein that is the source of the virulence. It's another part of the virus. So we know a new area of concern with respect to mutations.
By the way, the FBI is looking into this.
