We just cut the cable....

We dropped the landline and cable TV, upgraded to 1 Gig internet from 100 Meg. We're saving over a $100 a month!
I wish we'd done it years ago.

Nice. What sort of speeds are you seeing on speedtest.net?

Currently about 200 download, 120 upload, but that's through the work VPN. Also, we're still using the old router - they're supposed to be sending a replacement...

About damn time!
Spend some of that savings on commercial free versions of Netflix/Hulu/etc.
I haven't seen a TV commercials for years except when I visit others and have to suffer watching them. You really don't get how awful they are until you haven't seen one in years and then see one again. Especially the prescription drug commercials. I don't even recognize any of the new drug names so all the old drugs that were being advertised are just no good now? lol

I would do it in a heartbeat, but...

Need a landline to "buzz people into" the condo. It can be done using a cellphone, but only one phone can do it. So if there's two cell phones in the family, and the "dedicated one" is out of the house.... VOIP is an option, but it's a PITA and unreliable - as is cable.

Mrs. George likes to surf. Difficult to do when you're streaming.
200 is good d/l speed. Probably more than you'll ever need except for
streaming that German pr0ngaming. When I went from 100 to 300, I noticed no difference in my day-to-day use. For casual users, speed is overrated. -

We had a landline in our new house.
After a year I killed it since we had zero calls.
Our internet supplier, Spectrum, sold the line line separate from cable and internet.
So we could get a landline without cable TV. Now it is just internet.
Streaming YouTubeTV and surfing works very nicely. Try the free sample YouTubeTV (it's not YouTube, same company, different product.).
