Yeah, it looked cool, but I kind of hate these talks where math is presented as a kind of beautiful mystery, where the focus is only on the "visuals" and not even an attempt is made to explain what is going on. It presents a very inaccurate picture of what math is about.

YEs and no I agree. I have seen presentations like this that focus on nature and math in nature, and how math concepts show up in nature where it cannot be "manipulated". For me, this is kind of the same talk.

What accent is that? And why are they speaking English?
Think people of Chinese descent in former British colonies like Singapore/Malaysia; this explains the English speaking. Most likely they grew up in Cantonese speaking communities that also influenced their accent.

In terms of martial arts choreography and wire act, it’s a lot like watching Hong Kong kungfu serial from 30~40 years ago.

Not sure if this is affiliated with “TED Talk,” but stylistically this looks very much like a “TED Talk”.
This one is from a sociologist who did 20 years of research on mainland China’s sex service industry.
Given mainland China’s censorship regime, not sure how much she had to censor herself before she’s allowed to speak publicly on this topic. Regardless, she shows much compassion with her presentation.
