How to lose a customer in 5 easy steps…

Back after the Afghanistan fiasco, a local Texas Roadhouse set aside two tables with shots of whiskey for each of the marines that were killed. They kept this up for several weeks. I liked that, so on a regular basis have ordered takeout from the restaurant as a sign of support… Tonight we ordered a couple of steaks and were told to pick them up at 6:30.
I showed up at 6:35 and the food wasn’t ready. In fact, they were slammed. The guy next to me had a ticket for 6:15 and still hadn’t been served. So I alerted the girl at the takeout booth that I would be at the bar if my food showed up, gave her a $10 to bring the food to me at the bar, and went for a beer. I had a beer and good conversation with the bartender, paid and tipped well, and went back to the front at 7. The guy with a 6:15 ticket was just getting his food. I let her know I was back while she ran back to the kitchen. Guys start bringing food out in wooden crates at 7:05. I’m pretty sure that I see my name on a ticket in front of one but I can’t retrieve it as it is placed on a back counter. 15 minutes later, the lady comes back out. At this point there are 20 people waiting for their food. I address the lady that my food has been on the counter for 10 minutes… “Yeah, give me a minute”.. 5 minutes later she is still arguing with a customer at the counter. I walk up and say excuse me, she turns around and yells “I said give me a fucking minute” I replied “ I’ve given you 50” and walk out.
Eating Longhorn right now. I think I will stop back and talk to a manager tomorrow.
