Tomboys Are Transgendered

The number of young Americans who describe themselves as “transgender” has exploded over the past decade, increasing by a factor of 20 to 40, according to gender clinic referral data and a recent Williams Institute report based on surveys by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. Why? Jody Herman, author of the report, calls that a “bewildering question.” Clinical psychologist Erica Anderson tweeted that the surge “defies explanation. . . . Something is going on that we don’t yet understand.”
The two leading explanations are greater social acceptance and social contagion. Both are likely contributing factors, but I think the main reason is simpler. It comes down to a change in terminology.
Until recently, the term “transsexual” referred to people with a cross-sex identity, a desire to be the opposite sex or even a diagnosis of gender dysphoria. “Transgender,” the favored term now, is far broader. It encompasses mere nonconformity with rigid traditional sex roles. If you’re a tomboy or a feminine boy—if your expression or behavior is different from what is “typically associated” with your sex based on “traditional expectations”—you’re transgender. No wonder so many young people think they need medical help to “correct” their sex.
*This idea is propagated by important scientific and medical organizations:
• Planned Parenthood provides services to transgender patients at all its locations, and in 2020 described itself as America’s “second largest provider of gender affirming hormone care.” Its website defines “gender” as “a social and legal status, and set of expectations from society, about behaviors, characteristics, and thoughts” and asserts that “it’s more about how you’re expected to act, because of your sex.”*

We were at a theater boosters group meeting the other night and one of our board members announced her 15-year-old son was now a girl. Every bobbleheaded their support. Fucking idiots.
I think it is fine to make the announcement, so people know what's going on. But to offer encouragement and tell her that's great is just ridiculous. It's becoming a fashion statement.
I really think future generations will look back on this aberration and ask what the hell we were thinking.

I hope there are no further questions regarding the ability of culture to define how people think and feel about .... anything at all. Especially those of us who fashion ourselves as deeply principled and virtuous. Ironically, such people will be the most arbitrarily programmable.

People need a moral compass, even if they don't steer a true path. For centuries in the Western world, we have used the Bible as the bedrock of that moral compass. With the increase in atheism and agnosticism, every man is prone to becoming his own king...IOW, there is NO higher authority than man.
When people build their moral houses upon sand, is it no wonder we have no principles set in stone? That what is right is simply the fad of the moment?
A primary tenet of communism is the eradication of religion, in favor of belief of the morality of the State.
They knew what they were doing...

With age has come, for me, a more practical appreciation of Christianity and how it keeps the masses in line to a much greater degree than newer ideologies. But those newer ideologies are all about taking a huge dump on Christianity. As they say, humans are born with God shaped holes in their hearts and they’ll be filled with something, one way or another.

I disagree. Keep it to yourself unless someone brings it up.

Well put. "A fashion statement."

Yeah, what 15-year old (regardless of
gendersex whatever) isn't fucked up in some way?And now, not only do you condone it, you promote, encourage and celebrate it.

In this case all of us are going to run into this kid, so I think it was appropriate to avoid uncomfortable situations.

For me it is an appreciation of the enrichment faith brings to the lives of a lot of my friends and acquaintances. I often wish I had a strong faith. I just don't. I think as you get older your stop thinking of it so much in terms of true or false, and more in benefits vs. drawbacks.

People like to be loved and encouraged and favoured.
If you give people extra love, encouragement, more opportunities, more appreciation if they say that they identify as a potato, many will say they are a potato.

The social opportunism theory of human thoughts and feels. It is very explanatory and predictive. It’s important to understand that those sorts of beliefs are held just as honestly as any other. It’s how we evolved. We’re not supposed to be self aware of our self-serving world views.

The redneck apostle, Thomas. I think I find more inspiration in him, than in any other.
