NEW YORK — New York Attorney General Letitia James filed a lawsuit Wednesday accusing former president Donald Trump, three of his grown children and executives at his company of flagrantly manipulating property valuations to deceive lenders, insurance brokers and tax authorities into giving them better rates on bank loans and insurance policies and to reduce their tax liability.

The 222-page civil complaint asks the New York Supreme Court to bar Trump, as well as Donald Trump Jr., Ivanka Trump and Eric Trump, from serving as executives at any company in New York, and to bar the Trump Organization from acquiring any commercial real estate or receiving loans from any New York-registered financial institution for five years.

If I understand this correctly, this kind of manipulation is common, so why single Trump out?

Nah, I withdraw that question. Silly me....Even Barr said it was a political hit job.

@Jolly said in New York v. Trump et al:

If I understand this correctly, this kind of manipulation is common, so why single Trump out?

Is it your contention, then, that it’s not that Trump has not committed the frauds he has been accused of, but only that “other people do it to” without also being sued by the state of New York?

Highlights of the accusations as compiled by Axios:

I partially agree with Jolly. Her interest is this is political. Having said that, it wouldn’t surprise me to learn his inflation to creditors/deflation to tax authorities is really extreme.

FWIW, I voted against her in the primary. IIRC, there were three candidates in the running, two sounded like they wanted to use the office to pursue high profile cases to further their national reputation (a la Ken Paxton), and one sounded like he wanted to fight crime in NY. I voted for the latter guy, and he lost.

            Yeah, it's clearly political.

But the idea that everything Trump does is typical of business is definitely open to debate. He's a pretty extreme character.

            I was only joking
