Keyboard: Repair or Replace?
-
My Kawai CE200 digital piano has been wonky lately. The keys are noisy, "clackety" and squeaky. A couple of the keys are slow to return to home position after being struck.
I like it because it gives me the opportunity for silent practice at odd hours.
I reached out to a couple of local companies and one of them responded:
"It sounds like the keybed needs an overhaul which is doable. An overhaul can run $300-600 and possibly more depending."
Another place suggested $275 for a service call and 1 hour's service. A third says $95 for the service call, then $50 for the estimate - applied to the cost of repair.
Worth fixing? If I recall, it was about $1700 new.
