What do you think of “vote by mail” and “early voting” now, @Jolly ?

As I recall, you have mostly opposed “vote by mail” (except for voters serving in armed forces) and would rather have everyone vote in person on voting day.

Has a pandemic such as COVID-19 changed your view? Are you now more accepting of “vote by mail” and extended “early voting” given the pandemic?

We need to figure something out. It’s unlikely that by November we’ll be in a position to let people crowd voting locations in person.

Thank you for your attention to this matter.

Well then, we just need to have the Senate give Palpa—-I mean Trump emergency powers until such time as the crisis has passed and we can resume the election as normal... 😛

Most people have the option to vote early, or by mail or some form of absentee voting.

Is there anyplace that doesn't have this option?

If not, then what's the problem?

I definitely don't have any problem with a deadline for submitting the ballots.

I'm still opposed to vote-by-mail, even today. Too easy to cheat. I'm not opposed to any technology that can allow people to vote, as long as identity can be firmly established.

Coronavirus: Wisconsin defies its own lockdown to vote
                  https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-52208440

Voters braved long queues at a limited number of polling stations where some staff wore hazmat suits.
                  ...
Wisconsin is the first state in three weeks to hold a primary with in-person voting since stay-at-home orders swept the nation amid the coronavirus pandemic. The Badger state imposed its own lockdown on 25 March.
All other states have postponed their primary season elections or moved entirely to postal votes while the country remains in the throes of its health emergency.
                  ...
Widespread no-shows by election workers prompted the consolidation of polling stations, leaving some sites understaffed and overcrowded.
In the city of Milwaukee - Wisconsin's most populous city - its usual 180 polling places were reduced to five.
                  ...

And then there is this gem from a local politician, some party county chairman:

"If you can go out and get fast food, you can go vote curbside ... It's the same process."
