    Seems like a political own-goal, no?

      Grahams ban started at 15 weeks. France bans it at 14. Austria at 12 weeks. In Germany, abortion is flat out illegal, but they don’t prosecute it. Yet Graham’s proposal is in unacceptable infringement on women’s rights and Europe is the penultimate example of liberal philosophy.

      Fuck that.

        Yeah, but you're pretty much totally anti-abortion. It's not going to affect how you vote.

        Lots of people think differently, which was the point of Jon's question.

        I was only joking

          @LuFins-Dad

          I get you like it as policy (at least directionally) but my question was about the politics.

            Including lots of Republican politicians. DeSantis rather awkwardly ignores abortion questions. Many others just say leave it to the states

              I’m not talking about my views. I am talking about Europe. The UK outlaws it after 10 Weeks. Graham’s proposal at 15 weeks. Which do you feel is more illiberal? Do you think our laws should be closer to UK, France, Germany, Spain? Or do you think they should be closer to North Korea (no restrictions), Russia (no restrictions), and China (No restrictions except Jiangxi)?

                Politically I think representatives deed to stay truce to some basic principles, this is one. Do you want your representative to have similar views regarding life and procreation rights as Western Europe or Kim Jong Un?

                  Again, you're missing the point. It's a bit of a hot potato. It's not about your views or mine. I actually agree with banning abortion after about 15 weeks, but I can see how it might be an awkward thing to say this close to an election.

                    What D’Oh said.

                    I mean, fair enough if you’re only interested in talking about the policy aspect. That’s cool.

                    But I started the thread to talk about the politics. In my experience you can usually differentiate between the two.

                      As I’ve already said, there are issues that are far more important than politics.

                      But on a political level, yes, Republicans are missing an opportunity here. I could see a deluge of commercials pointing out that the Republican position lines up with the liberal Western European Countries while the Democrat position is exactly matches the policies of North Korea, China, and Russia…
